Invitations

Invitations let you open Zappocity to a few people at a time while signups stay closed: every invitation link signs up one person, once.

Turning them on

In the admin panel, open Settings → Invitations and tick Accept invitation links at signup. Until then no invitation link works, yours or your users'. You can also set:

Plan for links users make: the plan people join on when a user invites them.
Links work for: days before a link expires (14 by default).
Each user gets N invitations every D days, up to at most M: the drip. With N at 0 users get none on their own, but you can still give some to one user.

Users can also get more invitations with loyalty points, and earn points when theirs are used; see Loyalty and referrals.

The person who is invited still chooses an address on one of the shared domains open for signup, and the usual limit on signups per network still applies.

Making links yourself

Invitations in the admin panel makes links on any active plan, even one that is not offered at signup, with an optional note such as who they are for. Copy each link and send it to one person (or just its code: the signup page has Have an invitation code?, which also takes a whole link pasted in). The list shows every invitation, who made it, whether it was used and by whom, and lets you cancel unused ones.

To email a link instead of copying it, enter the person's address in Email the link to; it is sent from the notice address (see Automatic mail).

Users' invitations

Users with invitations to give see Invite friends in webmail's Settings. They make a link and either enter the friend's address, so the server emails it, or copy it themselves, and see when it is used. Cancelling an unused link gives the invitation back.

To change one user's invitations, use Invites next to the user on their tenant's page, or the command line:

Reset puts the user back to one period's worth and restarts the drip from now. The drip only fills up to the maximum; invitations you give beyond it stay until they are used.

Their own address

Set Invitations and signup under Settings → Host names (for example invite.zappo.city) and invitation links use it: https://invite.zappo.city/?invite=…. See Host names.

Team invitation links

These invitations make new tenants. To bring people into an existing team on its own domain, the team's administrators use their own invitation links instead; see Team administration.
