Host names for webmail, signup and the admin panels
Each of these can have a host name of its own, such as webmail.mailo.city or invite.zappo.city:
| Setting | Page | Path it replaces |
|---|---|---|
zappocityHost | The Zappocity homepage | /zappocity |
kbHost | The help articles and FAQ (Help site) | /kb |
discussHost | The platform's forums (Forums) | /forum |
teamSiteBase (such as zappo.city) is not a page of its own: it gives every team with forums or a wiki <team>.f.<base> and <team>.d.<base> (point *.f.<base> and *.d.<base> at the server). | signinHost | Sign-in (then webmail) | /signin | | webmailHost | Webmail | /mail | | inviteHost | Signup and invitation links | /signup | | adminHost | The SaaS admin panel | /admin | | domainAdminHost | The domain and team admin panel (Team administration) | /manage |
Set them in the admin panel under Settings → Host names, with corpsuite settings set inviteHost=invite.zappo.city, or with PATCH /v1/settings.
The server's own host name (and the shared domains, such as mailo.city) shows the Mailocity homepage. The Zappocity homepage, about the company and all its products, shows on zappocityHost (such as zappo.city). The two link to each other through /zappocity and /mailocity, so neither page names a host:
sudo corpsuite settings set zappocityHost=zappo.city
Point zappo.city and www.zappo.city at the server first; both get a certificate at the first visit, and www. redirects to the bare name.
The homepage's Sign in button goes to /signin: the sign-in host when one is set, otherwise webmail. The sign-in host is also where the single sign-in for every service (mail, chat, billing) will live.
What changes
- The page is served at the root of its host, so
https://admin.mailo.city/is the admin panel. - Its old path on any other host sends people there, keeping the rest of the address (an invitation code, for example).
- Links the server makes, such as invitation links and the webmail links in password-reset mail, use the new host.
- Everything else, including JMAP, the APIs and mail apps, works on every host as before.
Before you save one
- Point the name's DNS at this server (A and AAAA records, or a CNAME to the server's own name).
- With automatic certificates, one is issued at the first visit. With a fixed certificate (
CORPSUITE_TLS_CERT), the name must be on it.
Each portal needs a different name, and none may be the server's own host name, which keeps the homepage. Clear a field to put the page back at its path. A change takes effect at once on the server that saved it, and within 30 seconds on others.
The admin panel and webmail each have their own sign-in on their host, so after moving the admin panel you sign in again there. Keeping the admin panel on a host of its own also keeps its sign-in cookie away from the other pages.
