Forums
Mailocity has forums at /forum (also Forums in webmail's top bar): the platform's own, which everyone can read, and each team's.
Reading and posting
- Anyone can read the platform's forums, signed in or not.
- To post, sign in with your mailbox (Sign in on the forum page). Any mailbox can start topics and reply in the platform's forums, except in a closed forum (such as announcements), where only staff start topics.
- Posts are written in Markdown:
**bold**,*italic*,code,[links](https://...), lists, quotes and code blocks. Any HTML is shown as text, and links can only go to web and mail addresses. - A post shows your display name (or the part of your address before the @), never your address.
- You can edit your own posts (unless the topic is locked) and hide them.
- At most 30 posts an hour.
Team forums
A team whose plan includes Forums can have its own forums. The team's owners and admins make them on the team's page in the team manager (Forums → New forum) or with corpsuite tenant forum create TENANT slug=general name=General:
- Who reads it: the team's members (the default), or anyone. Only members post either way.
- Only moderators start topics: for announcements.
Owners and admins moderate their team's forums on the forum page itself: Pin, Lock and Hide on a topic, Hide and Show on any post. Hidden posts keep their place in the topic, marked as hidden; only moderators see their text.
If the plan stops including forums, the team's forums are kept but not shown until it does again.
For staff
The Mailocity panel's Forums page makes and changes the platform's forums (corpsuite forum create slug=news name=News closed:=true). Staff moderate any topic or post with corpsuite forum topic set TOPIC-ID locked:=true and corpsuite forum post set POST-ID hidden:=true (or PATCH /v1/forum-topics/{id} and /v1/forum-posts/{id}).
Addresses
- The platform's forums can have a host name of their own, such as
discuss.mailo.city(Settings → Host names and HTTPS → Forums, discussHost). - With Team sites under set (
teamSiteBase, such aszappo.city, and*.f.zappo.citypointed at the server), every team with forums has<team>.f.zappo.city, showing its public forums to anyone. - A team can also use a name on one of its own proven domains, such as
forum.acme.com(team page → Forum and wiki addresses, corpsuite tenant sites set TENANT forumHost=forum.acme.com). Point its DNS at the server; the certificate comes on the first visit.
Members sign in to /forum from webmail to read members-only forums and to post.
