Shared mailboxes
A shared mailbox is an address such as sales@ or info@ that several of a team's users read, and those allowed send as, without anyone signing in to it. It suits a small team answering a shared address together. For a queue with tickets, assignments and service levels, use the help desk (supporto.city); for a group discussion or announcements, a mailing list.
Setting one up
In the team manager (the team's page in the panel), Shared mailboxes → Add shared mailbox: its address, on one of the team's own domains, and a name. Then choose who may use it: pick a teammate and what they may do, and Add member.
- Read: open it and read its mail.
- Read and organize: also mark, move, file and delete.
- Read, organize and send as it: also send from its address (replies to customers come from
sales@, not from the person).
Change a member's access with the list next to their name, or Remove them. Delete removes the shared mailbox and its mail after the team's deletion grace period.
From the command line:
corpsuite shared-mailbox add TEAM address=sales@acme.com displayName=Sales
corpsuite mailbox share sales@acme.com amy@acme.com access=send
corpsuite shared-mailbox list TEAM
Using one
Members find it in webmail under Open a mailbox shared with you (and in mail apps over IMAP, under Other Users). Members who may send choose the shared address as the sender when writing.
Seats and limits
A shared mailbox takes no seat: no one signs in to it. Each plan allows a number of them (5 unless the plan says otherwise; staff set it per plan under Plans → Shared mailboxes). A shared mailbox has no password, no app passwords and no Zappocity account; it cannot be shared with, only shared.
