Profiles and badges
Every Zappocity account has a profile and can have badges. Both belong to the person, not to one product, so they show wherever that person appears.
Your profile
On the account page (/account), Profile has your name, a handle (3 to 30 letters, digits, ., _ and -, such as pat), pronouns, a short About you (500 characters) and a website (an https:// address). Some handles are kept for Zappocity (admin, staff, support and the reserved mailbox names).
Your profile is hidden until you tick Show my profile to others. Then:
- people who get mail from you in Mailocity webmail see your badges next to your name, and your name, handle, pronouns and bio when they point at them, but only on mail proven to be from you (sent by you through this server, or passing DMARC), so nobody can borrow your profile by forging your address;
- people signed in to Zappocity can look you up by handle.
Badges
Badges are made by staff in the Zappocity panel (Settings → Badges): a name, a description, a colour and an icon, and who has it:
- Given by hand: on a person's page, Give a badge (and × to take it back);
- Early adopter: everyone who joined before a date, or ever subscribed to a plan (either is enough); it starts switched off, so set its date and switch it on;
- Staff: every active panel staff member;
- Administrator: staff with every permission.
Staff and Administrator badges show on proven mail even when the person's profile is hidden: mail really from staff carries the badge, and mail that only claims to be from them does not.
Staff can correct or hide anyone's profile on their page (Profile and badges), for example one that breaks the rules.
