Coupons
Coupons are codes that take money off an organization's invoices or raise its limits. Staff make them in the Zappocity panel; an organization's owners and billing members redeem them on the account page, or staff give them. See Billing for how invoices are made.
Kinds
- Percentage off: that much off each charge the coupon covers (
percentOff). - Amount off: a fixed amount off an invoice's charges it covers (
amountOffCents), never more than they come to. - Buy some, get some free: of every Buy + Get subscriptions billed on the same invoice, the cheapest Get are free (or get Percent off off). Buy 1, get 1 is "buy one, get one free".
- Limit boost: raises a product's limits while it lasts, such as 5 more users or 10 GB more storage per user. The names are the plan limits shown under Products (
users,domains,aliases,storageBytes,messageBytes,sendPerHour,sendPerDay,recipients,aliasesPerUser,sharedAliasesPerUserfor Mailocity). A boost adds to the plan's value; a limit staff set for the team or a user still comes first, and an unlimited limit stays unlimited.
What it covers and for how long
- Product, plans and billing periods limit which subscriptions it covers; left empty, it covers them all.
- Lasts: once (the next invoice it takes something off; voiding that invoice gives it back), some months from when it is redeemed, or for good. A boost lasts some months or for good.
Who can redeem it
- Can be redeemed from / until: a window for redeeming. Organizations that have it keep it after the window closes.
- How many organizations can redeem it: 1 for a single-use code, a number, or empty for unlimited. Each organization can redeem a code once.
- First order only: for organizations never invoiced before; it applies to their first invoice only.
- For organizations made after / before: by when the organization signed up.
An organization can have 10 coupons in force at once. When several apply to the same invoice, the oldest goes first and each works on what is left, so together they never take off more than was charged.
Making coupons
Billing → Coupons → New coupon in the Zappocity panel, or:
corpsuite coupon create code=WELCOME20 kind=percent percentOff:=20 product=mailocity duration=months durationMonths:=3 firstOrder:=true description="20% off your first three months"
corpsuite coupon create kind=fixed amountOffCents:=1000 maxRedemptions:=1
corpsuite coupon create code=TWOFORONE kind=bogo buyCount:=1 freeCount:=1 duration=forever
corpsuite coupon create code=MORESEATS kind=boost product=mailocity boosts:='{"users":5}' duration=months durationMonths:=12
Leave the code out to make up a 12-character one (for single-use codes). Codes are upper case; customers can type them in any case.
What a coupon takes off cannot change once it is out (make a new one for other terms). You can change its description, its end date and how many can redeem it, and switch it off: nobody else can then redeem it, and organizations that have it keep it. A coupon nobody has redeemed can be deleted.
Giving and taking coupons
On an organization's Billing card, Give a coupon redeems a code for it on the same terms as when its people do (corpsuite billing coupon give ORG-ID code=WELCOME20). Remove ends one: it takes nothing more off and its boosts go at once (corpsuite billing coupon remove ORG-ID REDEMPTION-ID). Each coupon's page lists who redeemed it, and how much it has taken off on how many invoices.
For customers
Owners and billing members type the code under Have a coupon? with their organization's billing on the account page. Discounts come off the next invoices the coupon covers; a boost raises the limits at once. The list there shows each coupon, what it gives, what it has saved, and until when. Wrong codes are limited to 10 an hour.
On invoices, each coupon is a line of its own ("Coupon WELCOME20: 20% off your first three months").
Staff need read to look and billing to change anything.
